As of 4:00 AM GMT -3 November 18 of 2011, a Google search for "DenverCoder9" returns YOU. :)

Oh great. Now there are a million hits but they're all just references to the original, unsolved thread!

Re: 0902: "Darmok and Jalad"

I feel like a monumental super nerd for even bringing this up (not that it's a bad thing) but I'm not so sure production costs were really it. I mean they were part of it, but wasn't the shuttle prop not ready when they started filming TOS? From Wikipedia : According to The Making of Star Trek , St...

Re: 0902: "Darmok and Jalad"

But if you really want validation, all one has to do is to watch any StarTrek: Enterprise episodes which have first encounters. Enterprise never happened. To suggest otherwise is blasphemy. Also, if it happened on screen (even in TOS) it's more valid than something in some book somewhere (if only b...

Re: 0902: "Darmok and Jalad"

Shaka, when the walls fell. At the risk of sounding like the Star Trek fanboy that I am, it's "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" not Kalenda's. I always wondered why it took them so long to catch on to the metaphor thing... Tamarians give context: Darmok and Jalad on the ocean (part of the epi...

Re: "Leaving" Discussion (#791)

This comic wasn't funny. Everyone does realize this, right? ... [Obvious] Reality isn't funny. ... That's my opinion anyway. As an opinion, that's valid. Something "everyone" realizes? No. Observational humor aside, people have been amused by reality for as long as they've been able to la...

Re: cos(♥)≠∫nªrk (was Re: "All the Girls" (#770))

For some people, judging from the "GOOMHR" comments, this comic apparently rings true. I don't get it. If you're not happy in the local maxima, then make a probabilistic move based on the temperature . To me, this comic is boring and trite, which is surprising given how much I love xkcd. ...

So after the last panel, two lesbians suddenly spring out of his hat? That's what the good Inspector would like to happen. It's unusually creative, if pathetically hopeless, which is why (I find) it (is) a musing.* Warning: this comic occasionally contains strong l-anguage** (which may be unsuitabl...

I don't think I can point out my favorite thing about this comic without a TMI - and I don't mean Too Many Instructions.

I'm glad I "got" all the graphs, though. I managed to do the same thing on the movie/character interaction one, too. I feel like Randall knows me so well, now!

For those who think she's deciding not to be an organ donor... Which is a worse fate for a Lego: becoming part of a spaceship or train, or staying in the bin forever? Definately the train; every Lego dreams of becoming a spaceship. What if I think spaceships are bad and don't want my blocks in them?

Re: "Movie Narrative Charts" Discussion

If that's what you think the character interaction of 12 Angry Men is like, then the whole movie went over your head. It could just be physical proximity. Meaningful interactions tend to get their own bubble encompassing the characters involved, and a caption about the interaction, like "Duel....
