Does Pokemon violate conservation of mass/energy principle

When a pokemon evolves, does it violate conservation of mass? when magikarp evolves in to gyarados, it goes from 10kg to 235kg. Where does this mass come from? and how can Ash carry several tonnes of pokemon around on his belt?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Amusing answers to tests

In chem, (electrolysis) no one in the class could figure out what was the source of the loss of efficiency in a copper electro-refining cell (it had an actual efficiency of 3%). So, tiny tiny goblins swam out of the anode to steal charges from the solution and bring them back to the anode. Goblins a...

Re: Fourth Dimensional Question

wouldn't it be simpler to take an n-th dimensional vector, apply pythag for it's projection on the xy plane, then take that value to apply pythag with the projection and the z-axis, then so on and so forth...? Well, that's at least how i always thought of it.

Re: How to mass a pencil

since the density of graphite is 1.7 g/cm3 and the density of wood is about .55 g/cm3 (google it), you can fill a glass with water and find the volume of water displaced by the pencil, then measure the volume of the "lead" with a ruler. just a thought.

Re: Geodesics: Donuts are Delicious

Well, it depends what sort of metric you have on the torus, but I'll assume it's the standard one you get from identifying the sides of a square with sidelength 1. I would assume in general that, unless stated otherwise, you're talking about a torus in the real world, i.e. sitting in Euclidean 3-sp...

Geodesics: Donuts are Delicious

Could someone please help me with a problem? Given two points on the surface of a torus, A(theta_1, phi_1) and B(theta_2, phi_2), what is the distance over the surface of the torus between the two points, and what is that path? Put another way, an ant on the surface of a donut wants to travel from s...

Recurring Decimal Places

I just remembered a conjecture that i sorta made up in class one day:

The decimal expansion for any rational number will be followed by a string of recurring digits of length (n-1), given that n is the denominator.

Has that already been proven? Am I completely wrong? What's going on here?

for simple fractals, just use and iterated function system - very easy, and quite effective. Matrices make this really simple, but algebraically, an affine rule can be defined with chosen transformations for 2 dimensions: a x_0 + b y_0 + c = x_1 d x_0 + e y_0 + f = y_1 and check out this website, it...

Global Warming and Carbon Emissions

I'd just like to poll the general xkcd public about the issue of climate change/global warming. Although there is no hard evidence as yet, linking CO2 emissions to global warming, is there necessary cause to throw any carbon emitting energy (coal, oil etc) out the window? Is industry being unrealist...
