Re: 2184: "Unpopular Opinions"

Easy for me if we relax the rules a bit and let me pick a pre-2000 movie: I genuinely enjoyed Leprechaun 4 despite its 0% Tomatometer.

Re: 2174: "First News Memory"

I have memories of the 1972 Summer Olympics and the murders of Israeli athletes, but I'm not sure if those memories come directly from that time or are more from the retrospectives that were broadcast during the 1976 Olympics and since then. I do know that I remember sitting on the green shag carpet...

Re: 1986: River Border

It's basically stuff on bread, isn't it? Whereas pies are things in pastry*. Someone else can tell us what the difference between bread and pastry is. Yes, hello. I do believe that technically a pastry dough must contain shortening, whereas bread dough is made with oil. Pizza is definitely bread. I...

Re: 1837: "Rental Car"

My mom has a friend who would probably be fine with the GPS car. She owns three GPS devices and programs them all for different destinations so she can argue with them. I do this on occasion too. Usually on long road trips where I know where I'm going but want to see the GPS' ETA and try to beat it...

Re: 1609: "Food Combinations"

Title Text: If anyone tries this on you, the best reply is a deadpan "Oh yeah, that's a common potato chip flavor in Canada." Ironically, Lays Canada just finished their contest for a new regionally-inspired potato chip flavour. While I admit that "PEI Scalloped Potatoes" will p...

Re: 1604: "Snakes"

I didn't know this rhyme (or anything about the snakes in question) but there is one about switching drinks mid session that goes something like "beer on wine, feeling fine, wine on beer, feeling queer". It has a similar issue to that described above, in that nobody is sure whether it's &...

Re: 1593: "Play by Play"

I think the "I don't know even the most basic rules of the most popular sport in my country" bit is a little played out. Agreed. It reminds me of the people who think it's funny to tweet/FB post something to the effect of "Oh, is there some sort of sportsball match being played today...

Re: 1590: "The Source"

The other day, when my 20-something co-worker asked why the whine from my power supply didn't bother me, I realized I'm finally old and decrepit enough to no longer hear high frequency sounds. One of the few benefits of aging. :D
