I use a non-rotating map, because the landscape gets unfamiliar when I rotate it and I lose my sense of where things are, but I’m often translating to left/right in my head to understand how to turn.

It could be a strange mating call. Convergent evolution between the squirrel and the telephone. For some reason, it's accompanied by a paralysis which prevents the squirrel from running away when a human approaches.

Cue squirrels imitating our variety of ringtones.
