Chemistry experiment

So heres the situation: I'm in my first year uni, and for my final chemistry lab this year, instead of giving us an experiment to do, we can choose pretty much any experiment that interests us and do that. Although it is pretty awesome, I feel kind of overwhelmed - I've been reading through journals...

In the first line you divide by -1, where does that go?
y = 2x-x^2
-y = x^2-2x

So at the end, just multiply both sides by -1 again so that you have y = 1-(x-1)^2

Ha, we've been thinking about it, and we don't really have enough time to go too far.
We're probably going to go to NYC, then go to Washington, see the sights, and then stop off at Cambridge and visit the Universities there on the way back if we have time.
I'm kind of intimidated x_x
