Re: 1792: "Bird/Plane/Superman"

Superman, as portrayed in various Justice League animated shows, is often seen flying in groups of superheroes. Also, we can fix most of the others: ⋅ Uses magnetic navigation - Give Superman a compass ⋅ Preyed on by cats - In the Silver Age superman continuity: "convergent ...

Re: 1346: "Career"

The most contrived headline I'm aware of isn't from a tabloid, British or otherwise. It's from Variety, the Hollywood trade paper, which in the 1930's lead with: 'HICKS NIX STIX PIX' - ie 'rural people show little interest in movies set in the rural areas' The NY tabloids have done their part WALL ...

Does the advance of LEGO computation power follow Moore's Law? It probably does as well. Take this to its logical conclusion, and I, for one, welcome our new modular ABS plastic overlords.

Re: 1257: "Monster"

Actually all measures are relative. Mass in kilogram is relative to that of the International Prototype of the Kilogram. Time in seconds is relative to the time of the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium-133 atom. (Okay the number of people is not a relati...

Microraptors had 4 wings? In the late 70's, the US built a 4 winged VTOL jet fighter test aircraft capable of Mach 2.2.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockwell_XFV-12

Unfortunately, it failed the VTOL part. But if the design ever gets built with updated engines, they could name it the Microraptor.

Re: 1079: "United Shapes"

I always thought Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana looked like the profile of a little slouching man in a big rumpled chef's hat. Minnesota's the hat. Iowa is the face in profile, with big bulbous nose. Missouri is the shirt. Arkansas is the pants. Louisiana, of course, is the boots...

Re: Alternative Energy Revolution

I still think nuclear power is better though. Realism FTW! Nuclear power can be good if it is managed well. However, wind turbine output can be made fairly steady over large number of turbines by targeting a lower output level. Wind turbines can be remotely controlled to exploit more or less of the...
