Who made the opening move in this game? I wonder how they agreed on that. White has made at least five moves, there are five black stones on the board... but we don't know which player got what handicap.

I first heard about this double space phenomenon when I read Robert Bringhurst's "The elements of typographic style". It seemed a strange thing to me. He calls it a "quaint Victorian habit". I wasn't yet very knowledgable in this field, all that he said seemed wise and reasonable...

Isn't this about the old argument against the existence of self-replicating machines? They would need to contain a building plan (that specifies how to construct a new machine), but then they'd also need also a building plan for that building plan, et cetera. No problem there. Isn't this about the old argument against the existence of self-replicating machines? They would need to contain a building plan (that specifies how to construct a new machine), but then they'd also need also a building plan for that building plan, et cetera.

It reminds me of the "literal Colemanballs" section of Private Eye a looooong time ago, where sports reporters said many such thinks, like "literally with one foot in the grave!"
