Replacing individual proper nouns doesn't seem like a good substitution. It's much more enjoyable to read that psychic readings suggest people believe China is preparing to launch dogs into South Korea, than to read the same thing about fictional nations.

It works for me, but what the hell is the point? You type in text, which is ignored, and it gives you a random meaningless symbol in response. I don't get it. It's even less interesting than an actual 8-ball, which at least was able to answer yes or no questions (usually incorrectly).

I can't really even understand where the idea that any part of the dress might be black is coming from.
