Re: Sherlock Mafia - Game over - someone wins!

Gg all. Between 3 cop sanities and a godfather, the only useful PR was Snark's :/

Also, an SK lord that can re-recruit is pretty powerful. I still don't like the idea of so many antitown kills, though.

Nice reads, dim! That could have taken a different turn if someone had switched to koopa.

Sherlock: Flavour made me think I was paranoid. I put in a mild crumb somewhere at the start about not trusting people. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of cop sanities in such a small game. With 4 kills per day, it's unlikely to last more than 2 nights,. And did I actually get vigged? Was t...

I don't appreciate either lynch atm. snark/just_me won't be lynched today, but I wouldn't conf-town them either. Particularly, I wouldn't give someone the box just because of a claim.

Re: Play Your Cards Right

Sandor, did you use an infinite deck, or did you remove cards from the deck of 52 once they'd been played?

Eugene, you're most likely right about the 5-j switching. I'm not sure there's an easy theoretical way to perfectly predict it, particularly since you can have had 5 or 6 cards.

<3 stubbs The cop thing is a little bit complicated, but if all three are used by town, there's a good chance we'll be able to get some info out of it. Re: Play Your Cards Right

Not quite: 5's are better than Jacks, since we've had more low cards so far. If you stick with the Jack, there are 32/47 cards that would make you guess correct. If you swap and get a 5, the chance of guessing correctly is 35/46. I think you'll find that makes a difference of almost 10%,...

Re: Sherlock Mafia - D1 The dingy warehouse

Re: Play Your Cards Right

Analysing whether or not to swap the 5th card can actually have a decent effect: What you're looking for is imbalances. Consider the following: 2,3,4,5,J From this setup, a 5 is a better card than a jack, so we have 24 cards that are better and 20 that are worse (plus 3 other jacks). Rat...

There's a guy after my own heart.

Lord SK would also work as a recruitment role.

Re: Play Your Cards Right

Well I'm glad my estimates weren't far off. The finite deck size might just introduce a ~linear (at least for the ...

That looks right, and pretty much agrees with my calculations. Do you have an easy way of getting the marginal probabilities for getting each step right, assuming the previous was right? Is it true that the second is the lowest?

You'd be surprised. With 2 anti-town kills each night, EV's tilt away from town really quickly. I guess we'll find out eventually. Do you guys announce LyLo?

Do you guys reckon the setup note about a possible non-cult recruitment role means anything? Does wam like leaving red herrings like that?

Re: Sherlock Mafia - D1 The dingy warehouse

Worst Role games are good fun.

I'd think voting for yourself to get the box is quite reasonable. If anything, it's untrust-ing, rather than -worthy, which is sort of my default setting as town.

Stubbs was in the last game I modded over at Mafiascum.

Re: Sherlock Mafia - D1 The dingy warehouse

You'd forgotten about Moriarty? Well, that's a bit surprising. Besides the omission of 'Holmes' in the title, it's suggestive that we all received an email, which would be mildly anachronistic if we're in the original canon. In the TV series Sherlock, Mycroft regularly sends texts to Sherlock, which...

Is this going to be based on the standard Conan Doyle literature or the recent BBC series? Since it's just called 'Sherlock', I thought the latter, which would make 'M' stand for Mycroft.

I, for one, find ellipses much more suspicious than parentheses.
