Yup. You need a network card for networking :P
It sits on the inside of the case at the point you plug the ethernet cable in - you're actually plugging it straight into the network card.

Check if the driver for your network card is installed? That's the only thing I can think of.

If it's not, chances are that you either A) have it on a disk or B) you can find it if you search google for your card.

Just rebought it the day before yesterday. I've never had crashing problems, though? And you can sacrifice creatures in DK2 for a reward, in the Dark Temple. I just wish it were moddable, so new creatures and rooms could be added :S And I die a little inside each time I remember they canceled DK3.
