Re: Find a set of numbers containing mine

I'm probably missing something, but there appears to be an obvious solution. 1.) What number did you select? 2.) What number did you select? 3.) What number did you select? 4.) What number did you select? 5.) What number did you select? 6.) What number did you select? 7.)...

Re: Secure connection International

If I'm understanding the requirements correctly, it would appear that software already exists to do exactly what you're looking to do. SCP should handle the encrypted transfer of data to your server without issue. SSH should be up to the task of allowing your experts to access the server and able to...

Re: Error At Startup -- Can't Do Anything

It sounds like you managed to uninstall internet explorer, which tends to cause problems with Windows. Tap ctrl+alt+del and open up the task manager, then try starting explorer.exe using the new task button. This will either restore your computer to functionality for a while, or give you another err...

Re: Encode a message so it can't be read until a certain tim

Hmmm...one could encrypt a message with a random password of sufficient strength that the average time to brute force it for the recipient's computer is about equal to how long you want the delay to be. A rapid and unexpected advance or poor information on the target's resources might pose a problem...

Re: [homework]Android bind service null pointer

Thank you for your swift response. I have placed the code tags now. That would appear to be a probable cause. I'll begin looking for a way to overcome that. Thank you very much for your help. Edit: Adding a two minute wait before invoking the problem line result in an application not responding box,...

[homework]Android bind service null pointer

Thank you for looking at this request. I've been attempting to implement a service as a part of the final android project. Unfortunately, I am getting a null pointer exception while attempting to test the code. As several weeks of bashing my head against this problem has yielded no results, and as n...

Unixkcd down?

Attempting to access unixkcd, I'm seeing it open to the command prompt and hang at the initial command prompt, where it would normally display the current comic. OS: Ubuntu 12.10-live, Windows 7, Debian sid Browsers: Firefox(probably a bit out of date), Google Chrome, Firefox Nightly Time Period: Fi...

Re: Password protecting an external hard drive

I personally use Truecrypt for this. You can download it from http://www.truecrypt.org/. Once you've downloaded it, start the program. From the window that pops up, select the 'create volume button'. http://imageshack.us/a/img854/7619/tc1.png From there, select 'Create a volume within a partition/dr...

Re: Ht tp connection fails, ftp and ssh do not

So far as I can tell, it is. I am still capable of connecting to it at the moment, since I'm on the local connection. If it helps, here is the output of apache2 -V: creation@ubuntu:~$ apache2 -V Server version: Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server built: Nov 8 2012 21:37:30 Server's Module Magic Number: 20...

Ht tp connection fails, ftp and ssh do not <resolved>

I am currently attempting to run a home server under Ubuntu 12.04. During the first week, the server was functioning perfectly well, but following my shutting it down and restarting it I have been unable to connect to the server using ht tp while on a non-local network. Connections from the local ne...

Re: Gun Control

1.) No experience. The closest thing I've handled was a spring-powered handgun firing plastic pellets, which broke after ~300 shots and a battery powered smooth-bore (it was supposed to be a rifle, but it didn't have any rifling...) firing the same (I had ~700 left sitting around...) which broke aft...
