Re: Legend Game System, by Rule of Cool Games

Legend came about because a lot of optimizers on Wizards of the Coast's Character Optimization Forum for Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Edition, and on the Giant in the Playground forum, were irritated at the systemic imbalances inherent in a system where you have one class whose entire shtick is to hit...

Re: Legend Game System, by Rule of Cool Games

Perhaps we are using different definitions of the term, but I think we have changed the core rules quite a lot to make the game more balanced. We have, however, kept the same general mechanics, if that is what you mean.

Re: Indie & Small Press Tabletop RPGs

Do you develop it? Have you played it? I've found play experiences or after action reports to be way more helpful than descriptions or taglines. Especially when they talk about design choices: versatility and balance are both values, but there's a tradeoff between the two. What choices does Legend ...

Re: Legend Game System, by Rule of Cool Games

I remember the Paladin class has two tracks that involve allies. The first is Protection, where you protect allies, and the second is Heroica, where you choose a partner and share teamwork benefits with him, such as not dying until your partner would also be dead. Tactician does crowd control/buffs...

Re: Indie & Small Press Tabletop RPGs

Would anyone mind if I plugged the Legend Game System in this thread? To quote from the website, it is Legend is a tabletop RPG developed by an independent team of gamers over the course of two years. Building on the foundations of the Open Gaming License, Legend has created a new and novel system d...

Legend Game System, by Rule of Cool Games

Legend is an indie tabletop RPG built on the foundations of the Open Gaming License, Legend has created a new and novel system dedicated to cinematic combat and a smoother gameplay experience. It takes familiar core mechanic...

Re: Worst/Overrated books.

The entire Inheritance series (Eragon and company). The first time I read through, they were good books. Not the greatest, but good. Second time through (and this is just the first two books), a person notices the general lack of any real character development. The plot more than makes up for this,...

That's terrible. I feel like somebody just stabbed me in the kidneys because of how terrible that pun was. That's pretty much what I came here to say, and copying someone else's comment certainly fits with the spirit of the comic. One might even go so far as to say that it is integral to the plot.

Re: Supreme Court rules on gun rights

One place people mention sometimes is Kennesaw, GA where I used to live. In 83 they put a law on the books that every household must have a gun. Since then the number of armed crimes hasn't increased, but the population is over 6x larger. What if you're too poor to buy one? Do they give you a gun? ...

Re: Just starting D&D: Sorcerer or Wizard?

You are playing a full caster. With only a bit of advice or work, you will not be underpowered at any level past the lowest ones. It takes more than "a bit" in my experience. And how is a new player supposed to tell the good advice from the bad? And follow it? B If only there were some so...
