I think I just landed my dream job.

I think I may have just gotten well on the road to running campaign teams and forming policy.

I am going to be so goddamn busy, even more than I have been. Goodbye fora, I leave you for better things.

Re: Screechings of the Great Unwashed (Pander to the Borg)

That basically, most people are slightly headshy, and smelling someone usually involves bringing your head close to theirs, a very intimate posture. As well, scent is very tied with our sexual preferences, pheromones mean a lot. That's one reason why, for example, we consider the musk of someone who...

Re: Legitimacy of Israeli Land Claims

Yeaaaaah, politics doesn't really work that way. There's a reason I've been using the words de facto (read as: the practical reality) and de jure (read as: the legalities on paper). They are different things. It is obvious that de jure claims without de facto hold do not make for a country, but they...

Ah. For most posters on this forum it wouldn't be. Anyhow, I've always been against people saying that, if someone shows an interest in reading a book, they shouldn't read it. When I was 16 I read both Mein Kampf (which is horribly written) and the Communist Manifesto (which is at least understandab...

I don't understand why people abroad (I'm Canadian) don't use Robertson as much as we do. It's just such a useful design.

That is as you said something for the courts to decide. I'm arguing against these people who say that because somalia is a **** hole we should let them off the hook. And yet, nobody has argued that. In fact, since we've been largely discussing it in a legal sense of "mitigating factor", n...

Re: Legitimacy of Israeli Land Claims

No, I'm saying that there was no country before we came along and created it. And because nobody really had control of the land, it is impossible to carve any country out of any other country. If any country or combination of countries are given, people are only gaining autonomy, not losing it. The...

Well the usual argument would be that the older it is the more "legitimate" it is. Which of course has some bootstrapping issues. It's a pretty unusable argument at this point any way you look at it.

See Oregonaut, that sort of thing is why I'm glad I didn't end up going through the military for engineering. For one I couldn't have dropped out, for another I'd have ended up with a rank and responsibility over people who had way more experience. And that would have gotten me sucker punched.

The argument would almost certainly be that the Brits got out of there (as in other colonies and mandates) to return soverignty to the local population, and that they didn't have the right to basically carve out a chunk for the Jews to return to. Since this event is moderatly recent, it arguably dim...
