Re: I Shouldn't Have To Say This

Still on the theme of traffic:

ISHTST: The point of a turn signal is to signal your turn or lane change before you actually execute it. If you're already halfway between lanes, that's a bit too late to activate your signal. I doubt the people behind you can see into the future.

Re: I Shouldn't Have To Say This

From what I understand, the MM:SS:ss notation originally came from film timestamps, where a 24FPS film might have something like 5:43:21 for the frame at 5 minutes, 43 and 21/24th seconds. Then for some reason people started using it in decimal notation but kept the colon. I've actually seen it used...

ISHTST: "4:56:78" as a duration of time means "4 minutes and 56.78 seconds", not "4 hours, 56 minutes, and 78 seconds".

(I forget what the original time was, but it was definitely in the format "xx:yy:zz" with zz >= 60.)

Drumsticks break all the time. That's why drummers always have tons of them. Yeah, I know that, I've witnessed drumsticks snap. But this person was acting like any single arbitrary hit was liable to snap it in half. Not "if I miss-hit", not "if I abuse it too much", but "if...
