Re: British EU referendum in June [update: Leave wins 52% - 48%, politics ensue]

In The Netherlands, a politician was charged on hate preaching once, and discrimination once. In the hate speech case he was acquitted and in the discrimination case he was found guilty. The appeal of that case is ongoing I think. The usual crap came along. "This is a political trial" &quo...

The PR thing should be irrelevant. The narrative of undemocratic European institutions is bigger than the actual news on the campaign fraud during the Brexit campaign could be enough to have flipped the result. This fact should be of great concern to anyone but somehow the possibility of bad PR or o...

Re: British EU referendum in June [update: Leave wins 52% - 48%, politics ensue]

Quick summary of the last week. Theresa May has tried to put her deal to the vote for the 4th time, now with concessions to Labour (she was negotiating but the talks broke down). Concessions appear to be too little for Labour but too much for the Tories. As a result, her cabinet has staged a mutiny,...

Take X and let X be a certain level. What is the smallest X for which the alternate history described is the exact history as we know it in real life? Of course, in this X I will have asked this question, and the answer will be a different number X', so X' =/= X, therefore X can't actually be the sm...

Even in this he just can't keep his fucking mouth shut. I lost all hope for the world when Trump's actual words to North Korea (in 2016 when they were in a full-on shout war) were more idiotic than the text South Park made up. Everything he has done afterwards is just confirmation of that.

On the plus side, this would make people more sympathetic to muslims rather than less, ultimately being counterproductive to the shooters' goal of eliminating Islam from the western world. You can see the effect of gerrymandering. The GOP has done a lot in the last district changing, far more than the democrats, which is the main reason for the difficulties. Labour has already largely lost Scotland. In 2010, they had 41 constituencies (SNP had 6), in 2015, they had just one (SNP had 56), and in 2017, they got six (SNP dropped to 35, Tories went to 13). Unless the SNP experiences a total collapse, Labour will never get the Scottish heartland back, and cu...

Well, pretty sure Collins is out. Not sure how competitive his district was before. Chris Collins arrested for insider trading. He won his seat in 2016 with a 34.6% margin. 270towin gives the margins for both the house seat and the presidency's vote in that district now. So it was a very safe seat.
