Re: Recommend one artist

Bright Eyes, indie rock band. I fell in love with Conor's voice and the emotions that I can fell in ever song. The lyrics are breathtaking, and will make sense after the third listening of the song :) My favourite song-a perfect sonnet. Can i second this? One of my favourite bands, although I've go...

Re: Becasue we all like to SMILE

If You Find Yourself Caught in Love by Belle & Sebastian. I know it's written by a christian, but the way it casually pokes fun at its subjects really does make me smile. Apart from the whole "say a prayer to the man above" business, there are a few amusing anti-military lines, things ...

Re: Radiothread

I'm not sure I quite get this whole ranking of Radiohead albums. I mean, as albums OK Computer, Kid A and In Rainbows are just so perfect and each song works well out of context. Re: Books you never finished

I too have struggled with Dickens. I've read about half of a Tale of Two Cities, it was alright, occasionally funny but pretty dull. (I realise I just said Dickens was "alright" :P) Really, when there are so many excellent books I would like to read, why bother. Same with At Swim-Two-Birds...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

Boo. Yeah, I'm a nerd here to talk with other nerds... Or geeks, or people who distinguish between nerds and geeks and are both. I'm your standard moderately intelligent lazy male teenager, kind of just waiting for secondary school to pass by, amusing myself with books and the occasional video game....

Re: Has anyone ever called you a genius?

"Holy shit tastelikecoke you're a genius! How did you know about all the names of the countries of the world?" This kind of thing. Except... I don't know all the countries :P Like in in English class one time we were reading Dubliners and we came to a story, Eveline I think, where the mai...

Re: xkcd's favourite 100 books - vote now!

Hi, this is my first post on these forums, but I'm really into literature and I guess given my username it's appropriate I post here first. I must say I'm quite impressed by your choices so far, maybe a little fantasy-centric, but hey at least you're distinguishing your JK Rowlings and Terry Pratche...
