"Bekfi" for scav hunt

I'm on a scav hunt and for one clue, we have to decode the term "bekfi". I'm assuming it uses some sort of simple cypher. We actually found the item, but we don't get credit unless we slove it. I tried rot13 and several other cyphers but got nothing. We believe it may or may not decode to ...

Five Levels: Probability Problem

I don't really know how to tackle this problem, as I've never had a statistics class. (and no, this isn't a homework problem, just something i'm over analyzing) Imagine a game with five levels. At every level, there's a random chance of moving to a different level, and it counts as a step. How many ...

I'm in college now, but last year in high school, we kept got two bomb threats on the wall of the boy's bathroom. I used the second one as an excuse to skip (as about half the school did). They eventually closed one of the boy's bathrooms and had a teacher with a sign in sheet outside the other. (I ...

Re: Quantum Teleportation

Obviously this is highly based on theory.. but wouldn't the star trek version of a teleporter be possible once we are able to directly control individual atomic particles on a whim. I imagine that the object to be transported would be frozen to 0 degrees Kalvin to stop all particle motion. Then sca...

Re: Quantum Teleportation

From what I've gathered, the simplest way to explain why quantum entanglement won't allow the transmission of classical information is that the only thing it can ensure is that two remote parties have the same set of random bits; neither party can choose the bits that the other will see.

At our school, we had two bomb threats in the form of writing on the bathroom wall (by the same person presumably, because it was in the same handwriting). The school covered it up right away, so I never actually got to see it, and then they even shut down one of the boy's bathrooms and put a teache...
