This. Oh how this irks me.

Newspaper headlines that scream "eating <random healthy food> triples risk of <rare dread disease>" really really annoy me. It scares people unnecessarily.

You know, the same formula can be expressed as π D (where "D" is diameter of the circle).  No footnote needed. For that matter, since when did common formulae require footnotes to explain the accepted standard symbols for constants and variables? Nice to see that your humor bypass surgery...

you are ... not from America. something is "sketchy" if it sounds untrustworthy, suspect, or poorly defined. I know for some it's hard to imagine, but there are other countries in the world besides America. Many even have internet access and some of their citizens read xkcd! In the UK at ...

It's the words that are reverse dictionary sorted - there's also 3 words that start with E but they're all in reverse dictionary order still.

I see you miss the point of the whole comic. Look closely at the first letter of each word in the statement in the second panel. Do you see a pattern? A pattern relating to the statement being made?
